Obituary for Olga G. Stirpe

Olga Giovanna Palermo Stirpe passed away late Friday night on November 21, 2019, with her loving family by her side. Of her many pursuits, she was an inspirational gourmet cook, avid gardener, world traveler and classical piano player. A fearless trendsetter, Olga was never afraid to step outside of her comfort zone and try something new.

Born in Syracuse on May 29th, 1931, Olga would attend Central High School in Syracuse, where she would later marry her childhood sweetheart, Pasquale Joseph Stirpe. Olga and Joe would have two beautiful daughters, Francesca and Susan. They built their life on Thompson Road in DeWitt, N.Y., where she would play an active role in her family’s lives and was a faithful member of Holy Cross Church. It was this house on Thompson Road where she lived next to her sisters, family and her cherished neighbor and dear friend, May Morris. Olga loved nature and the outdoors and would also become a member of the CNY Hiking and Skiing Club, with her beloved friend, Dr. William Ehling.

Olga is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Francesca Palermo; her sisters Antoinette (Ralph Bova), Louise (Thomas McGee); and Pasquale Joseph Stirpe.

Olga is survived by her daughters, Francesca Stirpe and Susan Morris; granddaughters, LeeAnn Galarza, Maria McGinnis-Woldt and Sophia Morris; grandsons, Marcus Morris, Jacob Castillo and Kevin Morris; great grandchildren, Gianna, Christian, Vincent Galarza, Lexington Woldt and Franklin Castillo.

In Olga’s honor, we invite you to celebrate her life with us on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Holy Cross Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. The church is located at 4112 East Genesee Street, DeWitt NY 13214. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
