Pierina “Rene” DeVeronica, 95, formerly of Minoa, passed away unexpectedly at her home in North Syracuse. Born in Giglio, Italy, she was the daughter of Nazareno and Natalina Paniccia. She came to America in 1940 when she was 12 years old and resided in Jamaica, Queens, NY until her marriage in 1946. She is predeceased by her husband, Natalino DeVeronica in 2009. They were married for 62 wonderful years. Her brother, Guido Paniccia also predeceased her.
Pierina is survived by her five daughters, Mary Jane (Tony) Natale of North Syracuse, Angela (Lee) Steinberg of Boyton Beach, FL, Linda (Fred) Smith of Las Vegas, Julianne (Mark) Vaccarello of Leland, NC, Lisa DeVeronica of Clay, NY; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pierina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, baking Italian cookies and Chamelas, crocheting, her weekly card games and trips to Pt Place with her good friends.
A calling hour will be from 10—11 am on Friday, May 5, 2-023 at St. Mary’s Church, 401 N. Main St., Minoa. The funeral Mass will follow the calling hour. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minoa.
