Obituary for Richard Walter Almond

     Richard W. Almond, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.  Born April 18, 1931 in Batavia, NY, he was the son of Walter and Rose Almond.  In addition to serving in the U.S. Army, Richard attended Ohio Wesleyan University and University of Buffalo School of Dentistry.  He spent his career as a Children’s and Adolescent Dentist before retiring in 1996.

     He was an Upstate Dental Clinic Mentor and a member of the Onondaga County Dental Society, serving as president in 1980.  He was active in the Boy Scouts and a member of the Syracuse Canadian Fishing Club.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, tennis and skiing.

     In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Almond.

     Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Nancy;  daughter, Pamela (Todd) Dischinger of Liverpool; sons, Merrick (Roberta) Almond of Apex, NC; David (Karyn) Almond of Portland, OR; Christopher (Vickie) Almond of Morrisville, NC; grandchildren, Christine Might, Brendan Dischinger, Joshua Almond, Danielle Soffe, Hayes Almond, Brooks Almond, Georgia Almond; and great-grandchildren, Mae Almond, Grayson Almond, Connor Almond, Mackenzie Might, Parker Might, Davis Soffe, Hanna Dischinger, Aida Dischinger, and Liya Dischinger.

     A calling hour will be on Friday, September 9 from 10 to 11 am. at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St, Fayetteville.  A service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
