Obituary for Richard J. Larkin

Richard J. Larkin of Jamesville, New York, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2019. Dick was born in Elyria, Ohio, on September 7, 1933, to the late Leslie Larkin and Edna (née Mack) Larkin.

Dick earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in 1955. He subsequently earned a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Administration from Case Western Reserve University in 1963.

Dick married Mary Jane (née McAllister) Larkin in St. John Vianney Church, Flint, Michigan, on November 12, 1955. On November 12, 2018, Dick and Mary Jane celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Dick worked for more than forty years with the General Motors Corporation in Elyria, Ohio and Syracuse. For many of those years, he served as the Chief Engineer of the Inland Fisher Guide Division in Syracuse.

Dick was a long-time communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, where he actively supported the parish. He served as a liturgical minister, sang in the church choir and served as the director of the choir.

Dick enjoyed gardening, golf and singing. He served as the President of The Gazebo Homeowners’ Association for nineteen years. Dick also performed as a member of the Nottingales choir at the Nottingham in Jamesville.

Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, as well as by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A calling hour will be held from 10-11 am on Wednesday, October 30 at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Street, Fayetteville, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at 11am immediately after the visitation. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, East Genesee Street, Fayetteville.
