Obituary for Robert A. Buroker

Dr. Robert A. Buroker, 87, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born in West Liberty, OH and was the son of the late Carl and Mary Louise Buroker. Robert graduated from West Liberty High School. He earned his BS from Ohio State University, College of Agriculture, and later a DVM from Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He also proudly served in the United States Army.

Robert worked at a Veterinary Practice in Berwyn, IL, Director of Laboratory Animal Medicine, Dow Chemical, Indianapolis, IN, and Drug Research at Bristol Myers Squibb and retired as Director of Toxicology.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Fayetteville, American Veterinary Medical Association, Society of Toxicology, Pompey Hills Golf Club, American Association of Laboratory Animal Science, Viera East Golf Course, and he was a Little League Baseball Coach for many years.

Robert is predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Joann (Fortney) and his brother, William (Doris) Buroker.

Surviving are his daughter, Amy (David) Lamparella; sons, Lindsey Buroker, Lyle (Sherri) Buroker; brother, John (Sharon) Buroker; grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Lamparella, Morgan and Shae Buroker; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday, February 28 from 1:30 –2:30 p.m. at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Fayetteville, 601 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville.
