Obituary for Robert H. Platenik

Robert H. Platenik, 89, of Fayetteville passed away on January 25th at home. He was born on April 9, 1930 in West Springfield, MA and graduated from the University of Massachusetts. Bob served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He retired as District Manager of the Petroleum Division of Agway. Bob loved to golf, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Manlius Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary L. McGowan Platenik; daughters, Beth Ann of East Syracuse and Mary Jo Richer (James) of Manlius; sons, Robert of Syracuse, John (Amy) of Rochester and Scott Patrick (Nikki) of DeWitt; grandchildren, Taylor, Michael, Harrison and Meghan Richer, Karley and Casey Platenik and Emily Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Geneva Platenik; and brothers, William, Joseph and Earl.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 30 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The funeral service will follow the calling hours at the funeral home.
