Robert E. Keim passed away on October 16th, 2019 at the age of 92. He was born in Syracuse, New York.
He was active in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1948 and was a Chief Radio Officer on tanker ships. He was a member of the Dewitt Fire Department for 14 years. In addition, he was a member of the Dewitt Rotary Club, the Scoutmaster for Troop 163 for the Boy Scouts in DeWitt, Chair of the Dewitt Parks and Recreation Commission for the Town of Dewitt, and was instrumental in the building of the Erie Canal Park in Dewitt, NY. Bob was a State Farm Insurance Agent for over 30 years before retiring in 1997.
He was an excellent golfer, ping pong and pool player, and loved to cook. Food was a passion for him up until his last days. He was a Christian man with a strong faith in God and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He shared his testimony of how he came to know Jesus as his personal savior with many people over the years, in hopes that they too would find the peace and joy it brought him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Martha Keim, as well as his son, Richard.
He is survived by his wife, Katharine; children, David (Aimee) Keim, Susan (Donald) Cullen, Stephen Keim, Jeanne Goldthwait, Cindy (Nathan) Maypole, Lisa (Steven) Webster, and James Savage; as well as 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 20th from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A private funeral will take place on Monday, October 21st.
