Obituary for Robert W. Ceilly
Robert W. Ceilly, 84, passed away peacefully July 10, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse surrounded by family. He was born Oct. 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. The family moved out to Brightwaters, Long Island in 1954 just after Bob graduated from Erasmus High School. This opened a new almost 60 year chapter of Bob’s life. After 4 years, 1954-1958 in the Air Force, he worked as a buyer at Sperry Rand Corp., then worked in NY City as a buyer for a private corporation. During this time he took a year off and traveled across the USA to California in his Porsche Speedster to satisfy his desire to see as much of the USA as he could traveling Route 66 with many side trips. After this adventure Bob got involved in the Real Estate business and also became a Real Estate Appraiser. Eventually he was asked to join Eric G. Ramsay Jr. Assoc. in Bay Shore, NY. He had a long and successful career there and finally retired at age 75 to enjoy the Family home on the water of the Great South Bay of Long Island with his Doberman pincer “Rip” and his cat “Simba”.
He and his brother took care of their parents so they could stay in their home. Family was very important to Bob. His kindness extended to all his family and their children.
His life long hobby was classic 1930’s Ford V-8 cars and hotrods. As a young man he worked on and owned several Ford hotrods. He was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America 1963-2019. Bob had a thoughtful and kind personality. He had a gs with others that made him many life long friends in business and personal life. Many customers would return to Bob to resell their homes and their children and some grandchildren came back also.
He loved the family home on Great South Bay and only left after hurricane Sandy damaged it beyond repair. He moved upstate to live with his younger brother, John and his family in Fayetteville. Bob is survived by two younger brothers; five nieces and nephews; and seven grandnieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 31st at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A memorial service will follow the calling hours.
