Obituary for Ruth Kopp

Ruth Kopp, 78, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday at Menorah Park Care Facility. Raised in Ilion, NY, she was the daughter of the late Holger and Lina Hjorth. Ruth graduated from Ilion High School and Syracuse University, where she received a degree in music. For a short time after graduation, she taught music in the Arkansas school system. Upon returning to Ilion, she worked as a church organist and vocalist and taught piano out of her home. She moved to Fayetteville with her husband and two children in 1967. Ruth was a nature lover and enjoyed spending summers at her familys cottage on Port Bay, NY. She spent much of her time in her greenhouse and participated in garden club. One of her favorite activities was tennis, which she continued to play until she was in her mid 70s.
She will be greatly missed by her survivors: her husband of 49 years, Robert A. Kopp; two sons, Robert H. Kopp and his wife Nancy of Manlius, and Richard R. Kopp and his wife Judith of Cazenovia; five grandchildren, Juliette and Andrew Kopp, and Conrad, Peter and Tucker Kopp.
Funeral Services: 4:00 pm Sunday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion, NY. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 pm at the funeral home, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville.
