Shirley Barber Mapstone, 91, of Pompey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born in Syracuse the daughter of the late G. Milton and Alice Reeves. She studied music at Syracuse University and had a life long love of music. Shirley devoted her life to being a farmers wife, a mother and friend to all.
She was the organist and choir director for over 50 years at the Delphi Falls United Church. She also was a current member of the newly formed Salt City Bible Church.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, basket weaving, rug braiding and loved sitting by her woodstove watching the birds at the feeder. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Eagan, Vickie (Leslie Morton) Enders, Martha (Tom) Ryan; sons, Stephen (Dorothy) Barber, Jeffrey (Sherry) Barber; step-children, Susan (Rex) Vosburg, Barbara (Joseph) Papini, Richard (Barbara) Mapstone; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Shirley is predeceased by her first husband of 39 years, Miles D. Barber; her second husband of 16 years Arthur Mapstone.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 11-2 p.m. at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd. Manlius. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Delphi Falls United Church, 2190 Oran Delphi Rd. Manlius, NY 13104.
