Obituary for Stanley M. Seymour

Stanley M. Seymour, 74, died unexpectedly on January 24, 2021. He was born September 4, 1946 in Poughkeepsie, NY and was raised in DeWitt, NY. He graduated from Jamesville DeWitt High School in 1965 where he made lifelong friends.

Stanley was a hard-working manufacturer’s representative for Lewis and Dunnigan and later proudly founded his own company, Seymour Marketing. Stanley was a dedicated lifetime member of the DeWitt Fire Department where he served as a volunteer firefighter and commissioner. In retirement, he volunteered for Hospice to give solace and love to those who needed it.

Stanley lit up a room with his laughter and love for everyone around him and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf with the guys, watching the LA Dodgers, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and SU Basketball. He also enjoyed the company of good friends and “adopted” many of his children’s friends over the years.

Stanley was truly loved by everyone around him and will be missed by all.

He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Jeanne Seymour as well as his son, Russell Hehn. He is survived by the love of his life of 45 years, Barbara; his children, Chris (Donna) Hehn, Jef (Kathy) Hehn, Gretchen (Tom) Schneider and Marett Seymour; grandchildren, Katrina (Mike), Nicole, Zackery, Emily, Lukas and Justin; great-grandsons, Connor and Tyler; brother, Philip (Donna) Seymour; sisters, Anne Donahue and Cynthia Seymour; brother in law, Chester Schmidt; nephews, Brian Donahue, Michael Donahue, Nicholas Seymour; and niece, Deborah Owen-Wilhen. He is also survived by his best friend since high school, Rick Ellison.

A Memorial Celebration of Stan’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to DeWitt Fire Department, The Food Bank of Central NY and The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services c/o Youth Service Dept.
