The Rev. Richard L.J. Hoemann, 89, a long-time resident of Fayetteville, died September 10, 2022 at The Nottingham in Jamesville.  Born April 23, 1933 in Union, Missouri, Dick was the son of the late Judge Edwin and Ida (Roth) Hoemann.  He was a graduate of St. John’s Lutheran Academy and College and Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, MO with an MDiv degree.  Upon ordination on August 31, 1958, in Irwin, PA, he served faithfully as a pastor of three congregations of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, and in retirement he served several Lutheran churches in Central New York as a Sunday supply or transitional pastor.

     He served as Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of the LCMS in Buffalo, NY for ten years and was a Board member and Chair of Lutheran Campus Ministry at Syracuse University for many years.  He was recognized at a special celebration event in 2015 with The Distinguished Disciple Award.

     Dick married Judith Gale Stade of Palatine, IL on August 9, 1958.  They raised four daughters as they lived and served in Irwin, PA, Hamburg, NY and Fayetteville, NY.  His final call was to Trinity Lutheran Church, Syracuse, where he served for 24 years.

     Pastor Hoemann is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judy; his daughters, Martha Meyer (Martin) of Bellbrook, OH, Rebekah Roppel (David) of Chittenango, NY, Sarah Butler (Donald) of Annapolis, MD, and Ann Bucklin (Keven) of St. Louis, MO.  He leaves nine grandchildren (Rachel, Elizabeth, Jessica, Laura, Andrew, Hannah, Mary, Molly, Melissa) and five great-grandchildren, whom he adored.

     Family and friends may call from 3-5 pm on Friday, September 16 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St, Fayetteville, NY.  The Funeral Service will take place at 10 am on Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7248 Highbridge Rd., Fayetteville, NY.  Burial will follow in Fayetteville Cemetery.
