Spooner
Thomas Spooner passed away surrounded by family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse on April 10, 2023.
Thomas spent most of his life in Syracuse with his wife, Tedi. He was very proud to be a DeWitt police officer for 35 years and he retired as a Sergeant; Thomas always brought honor to the profession. He regularly caught up with fellow retired law enforcement officers over lunch, a group he affectionately called the lunch bunch. Thomas really enjoyed coaching his grandson in the little league for many years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, telling a good joke, and above all,his family.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Rebecca Spooner; sister, Rebecca Spooner; sister-in-law, Valerie Chapin; and nephew, Andrew Chapin
Thomas is survived by his wife, Tedi (Chapin) Spooner; daughter, MaryEllen (Miguel) Mendez; son, Matthew (Jennifer) Spooner; grandchildren, Christopher (Alchemey) of North Carolina, Emilio, Ava, Gabriel, Miguel; and great-grandsons, Jayden, Giovanni, and Jace. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert (Mary) Spooner; several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law; as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Services will be held in the fall.
