Obituary for Vera Irene Niles
Vera, also known as Irene, passed away Monday at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. She was born 93 years ago on September 8, 1927. She was the only child of Vera and Frank Garner. Irene grew up in Cincinnatus, NY.
Irene worked at GE, in kitchens at F-M Schools, and retired from Magnavox in Manlius. In retirement, she crocheted over 400 lap robes, at first for Walmart to distribute and then directly to Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango.
Irene was a great cook and neighborhood kids loved her cookies. She loved her family and her pets. Irene was a warm, giving woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Willard; son, David; and son-in-law, Douglas Brown.
Surviving are her son, Dennis (Mary) Niles; daughters, Judith Brown, Patricia Roach, and Janet Niles, with whom she lived; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 4-5 p.m. at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m.
