Obituary for Walter E. Meyer

Walter E. Meyer, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5th at home. He was born December 7, 1926 in Jamaica Queens, NY and lived in Bethpage, LI He served in the US Navy as a gunners mate third class from December 7, 1944 to July 14, 1946.

He retired in 1985 after 14 years with Agway and previously owned a window and door business. He enjoyed gardening, military history and most especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Florence Meyer; sister, Mabel Roche; and grandson, Michael Quigley.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara; children, Edward (Julianne), Diane (Paul) Williams, Richard (Deborah), Jean (James) Clark and Judy (Ed) Quigley; brother, George Meyer; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 12th at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The funeral will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 13th at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
