Obituary for William Jay Hartman Sr.

“These things, I warmly wish for you - Someone to love, some work to do, a bit of o' sun, a bit o' cheer. And a guardian angel always near.” - Irish Saying

William Jay Hartman, Sr., 77, of Fayetteville, NY passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022. He was a beloved husband to Joan Hartman for 55 years and devoted father to his two sons.  Bill was predeceased by his son, Kevin Hartman, and his parents, Ellen and Morris Hartman. In addition to his wife, Joan, he is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William Hartman, Jr, and Wendy Lombardo of Jamesville, NY; daughter-in-law, Sandi Hartman; granddaughters, Kaitlin, Emily and Molly of Milford, MA; and several siblings, nieces and nephews.

Bill was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area and had a long career at Chrysler.  He served four years in the Airforce and enjoyed volunteering in the community as a little league coach, Cub Scout Leader, and delivering Meals on Wheels.

Bill was the life of the party and always happy at the lake and fishing.  He loved SU sports, the NY Yankees, and crossword puzzles. His wife and family were his world. His laughter, grumpy face, and witty banter will be dearly missed.

The family would also like to thank his doctors, nurses, Fayetteville EMTs and all who took care of and supported Bill and his family during his illness.

While he would rather us celebrate his life sitting at the bar with a cold beer, prior to that… a calling hour will be held at 9 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Street, Fayetteville.  A funeral Mass will begin at 10AM.  Burial will follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Clear Path for Veterans, The Fund Development Department, 1223 Salt Springs Road, Chittenango, NY 13037  http://www.clearpath4vets.com/donate
