Obituary for William G. Patrick, M.D,

William G. Patrick, M.D., 67, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, William B. and Marion Patrick. Dr. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sarah Patrick (Kutney); his five children, Navy LT Meghan (Joshua) Henderson of Poulsbo, WA.; Dr. Katherine Patrick (Matthew Arnold) of Boston, MA.; Christina (Ethan) Young of Fairport, NY; Dr. Elizabeth Patrick of Buffalo, NY; and William D. Patrick (Kelly Brown) of Nashua, NH; his beloved granddaughters, Genevieve, Natalie and Eloise, and his grandson due this spring; his sisters, Connie (Stanley) Sobczyk of Genesee, ID, and Christine Murphy of Lyme, NH; his aunt, Dorothy Fryer of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Dr. Patrick grew up on a dairy farm in Verona, which cultivated a lifetime love of the outdoors, an understanding of nature and a tireless work ethic.

He attended Cornell University and Upstate Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City and his Dermatology residency at University of Rochester Medicine – Strong Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Patrick opened his practice, Fayetteville Dermatology, in 1989. He loved practicing medicine, his patients and his staff.

He loved to go on long walks at Green Lakes with his dog Ella, harvest honey from his bee farm, grow bountiful gardens, write in his journal and read voraciously. He always had his Wall Street Journal in hand. He loved to travel around the world, from Scotland and Patagonia, to Italy and Australia. He never left a corner of a new place unexplored, and he hiked every hill or mountain in his sight. Bill took pride in the home and family that he and Sarah built together. They loved the chaos that came with raising their five beautiful children. He loved talking about his children, grandchildren and dog to whomever would listen.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 5 from 4-7 p.m. at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY 13066. NYS COVID guidance will be followed. Dr. Patrick’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at Eastern Hills Bible Church, 8277 Cazenovia Road, Manlius, NY 13104.
