Obituary for Yvonne LeMon

Yvonne “Bonny” LeMon, 87, of DeWitt passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at Menorah Park. Born to Sotira (Tyra) and James Goss on April 25, 1934, Bonny was the second of five children. She grew up on Tipp Hill and graduated from Central High School in Syracuse in 1952.

In 1957 Bonny married M. William “Bill” LeMon with whom she had three children. Bonny devoted herself to her children and was an excellent homemaker with a knack for cooking and fresh baked goods daily. Her pies, cakes, and blonde brownies were legendary among friends, family, and the garbage men who serviced her route. Her knitting and needlepoint could be found at baby showers all around Central New York.

After her children were grown, Bonny turned her passion for fashion into a career in retail, working at Banana Republic and Bonwit Teller at the height of Carousel Mall where she made many dear friends.

When her first grandchild came along, “Bonny” became “DeeDoo” and she shifted from retail to resale. She was a fierce garage-saler, speeding her Cadillac to the best garage sales every Saturday morning, sometimes running out of the car before it was fully stopped to get in on the action.

Together, Bonny and Bill loved dining with friends at various local establishments, practical jokes, and laughing together. As their family grew to include six grandchildren, they loved hosting family cookouts by the pool and doing anything to get a giggle, or better yet, a belly laugh!

Bonny was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bill. She is survived by their three children, Jeffrey (Carol) of Jamesville, April of Jacksonville, FL, and James (Jeanne) of Chatham, NJ as well as six grandchildren, Erica (Paul) Corgel of Arlington, VA, Kelsey of Atlanta, GA, Meghan, Tristan, Graham, and Sadie, all of Chatham, NJ.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Menorah Park for their excellent care and compassion over the last four years.

A service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday April 9, 2022, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.

In her honor, give a hug and enjoy a chocolate Frosty!
