Obituary for Therese M. Maher

Therese M. Maher, 89, of Dewitt, passed away after a short illness. Born in Syracuse, she received her Bachelor’s degree from Oneonta State College and her Master’s degree from Syracuse University. She worked as a social worker, retiring from NYS Office Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a former parishioner of St. John’s Church in Liverpool and St. Patrick’s Church in Truxton.
Therese is survived by sisters, Mary Maher and Kathleen Davidson; brothers, Francis, John, Vincent, Bernard (Margaret) and Dr. Thomas (Kathy); brother-in-law, Richard Holl; 41 nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Joseph and James and sister, Helen Holl.
The family wishes to thank everyone at The Oaks for their friendship and kindness.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. Services will be 9:15 am Saturday at the funeral home and 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cortland.
Contributions may be made to Pope John XXIII Church, Food Pantry, 8290 Soule Rd., Liverpool, NY 13090. Therese managed this food pantry for many years.
