Obituary for George M. Lewis, Jr.

George M. Lewis, Jr. 86 of Minoa died at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Syracuse, he was the son of George and Helen Lyons Lewis. He was a Korean War combat veteran. He worked in the grocery business for over 50 years in the Syracuse area.
Liked by everyone, he was a friend to all. He enjoyed golf, bowling and the New York Yankees. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Corrigan Lewis; children, Gary (Debbie) of Jamesville, Patti (Marty) Moore of Minoa, Laurie (Harry) Leonardo of Lakeland and Nancy (Louie) Cretaro of East Syracuse; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Joyce (Bud) Cook of Syracuse, Edward (Wendy) Lewis of North Syracuse and Pam (Gary) Penfield of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa. Services will be 8:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home and 9:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 401 N. Main St., Minoa. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minoa.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
