Donald Balch, 96, passed away at home on April 25, 2015 from Cardiac disease.
He was born in Oran, NY, grew up in Pompey Center and lived all his life in Cazenovia. He attended Cazenovia High School. He was a machinist for 44 years at Accurate Die Casting in Fayetteville. For 40 years he also installed, removed and repaired the docks on Cazenovia Lake. He was a member of the Cazenovia Baptist Church.
Donald was a WWII veteran, serving in Europe in the 94th Army Infantry. He was a member of VFW Post #113.
He was predeceased in 1994 by his wife of 51 years, Capitola. He is survived by his son Ernest (Diane) Balch, good friend Ruth Curtis, 2 grandchildren Christine and William and 2 great grandchildren Kyle and Micak.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, April 28 from 4 to 7 pm at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road. Services will be Wednesday, April 29 at 11 am. Interment will be in Oran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CAVAC, P.O.B 56, Cazenovia, NY 13035 or to Hospice of CNY, 900 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
