Obituary for Ruth J. DeLaney

Ruth J. DeLaney, 90, of Fremont, passed away at St. Joseph’s on Saturday. Born in Yonkers to the late Frederick and Anna Zittel, she grew up in Poughkeepsie. She spent 30 years working at Sears, but her most important role was raising her family in Fremont where she resided for over 50 years. Ruth was predeceased by her husband John; sister Ann Shea; brother George Zittel and daughter-in-law Julie DeLaney.
Survivors: her children, Judith DeLaney Holmes (Peter), Patricia (Michael) Fernandez of Baldwinsville and John E. DeLaney of Conway, SC; grandchildren Amy (David) Feeney of Lexington, SC and Joseph (Kristin) Heins of Hubert, NC; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph (Phyllis) DeLaney and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Street, Fayetteville. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
