Obituary for Elizabeth M Cabrey

Elizabeth M. Cabrey, 93, of East Syracuse died peacefully on Sunday. She was raised in Eastwood, graduating from Eastwood High School, Syracuse Normal School, Buffalo State and received her Masters degree from Syracuse University. Betty later moved to Fremont Hills and then Erie Village. She taught in the Syracuse City Schools for 35 years. She was a longtime member of Beta Chi Sorority and the Social Aires. She volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital, Meals on Wheels and FISH.
She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Robert in 1986; and brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Jean McAvoy.
She is survived by daughter, Kathleen Pendergast; son, Dennis (Betsy) Cabrey; five grandchildren, Erin (Tom)Rantas, Ellen (Tyler) Schaab, Mathew (Kate) Pendergast, Maureen (Patrick) Mannal and Michael Cabrey; nine great-grandchildren, Kate, Finley, Megan, Auden, Eamonn, Maggie, Cormac, Emerson and Oliver; nieces, Linda Saloski, Patricia Sinnot and Patricia Tiede; and nephews, James Cabrey and William McAvoy.
Services will be 9:15 am Wednesday at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville and 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Auxiliary, 301 Prospect Ave., Syracuse, NY 13203 or Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville, NY 13066.
