Obituary for Merrell R. (Jim) Knapp
Merrell R. (Jim) Knapp, 83, of Jamesville, NY died December 1, 2015 after a short illness. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a farmer for many years. Following his retirement from General Crushed Stone, he continued his passion of maintaining a large flourishing garden. He was a big basketball fan, especially of the Duke Blue Devils and SU.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Lori; parents, Otto and Irene Knapp; and brothers, Malcolm and Melvin.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Smith Knapp; son, Martin (Kim) Knapp; daughter, Kristen (Peter) Barletta; grandchildren, Jennifer and Peter Barletta; sister, Joyce Klock of Phoenix, AZ; and brother, Bruce (Sybil) Knapp of Roxboro, NC; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Jamesville Fire Department, P.O. Box 516, Jamesville, NY 13078.
