Obituary for Betty Jane Osborn

Betty Jane Osborn
Mrs. Betty (Jane) Osborn, 99, of Manlius, NY died on April 12, 2016. The daughter of Claude and Mildred (Cady) Scott, she was born February 4, 1917 in Syracuse, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Osborn; her sister, Harriette Brown; and her brother, Ayres (Bud) Scott.
Betty started her career with the Fayetteville-Manlius school system as the school secretary at Mott Road Elementary School. She retired in 1979 as a bookkeeper for the district office.
Betty will be remembered as an avid golfer, swimmer, and a wonderful cook. She was a gifted seamstress, creating many Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, including a mermaid and a fire-house dog. She loved doing any craft project and she spent many hours knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and passed on this skill to many of her loved ones.
Betty is survived by both her daughter, Marsha (Osborn) Disantis, and her husband, John, of Kensington, CT, and her son, Charles Osborn, and his wife, Barbara, of Manlius, NY. She will also be remembered as a loving “Nane,” “Gram,” “Great Nane,” and “Great Gram” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Thomas Disantis, his wife, Casie, and their son, Jack, of Falls Church, VA; Nicholas Disantis of Kensington, CT; Catherine Disantis of West Hartford, CT; Denise Osborn of Syracuse, NY; and Jacqueline (Osborn) Kiesow, her husband, Chad, and their sons, Connor and Marshall, of Gansevoort, NY. In addition, Betty touched the lives of many nieces and nephews, as well as her many friends – both past and present.
The family would like to thank the staff at Iroquois Nursing Home second floor for their very special care given to Betty during her stay; and especially to Andrew Avery, Nurse Manager for his support and kindness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church 407 East Seneca Street Manlius, NY. A reception will follow the service at Crosby Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to an organization of the donor’s choosing.
