Obituary for Joan M. Ryals

Joan M. Ryals, 77, of East Syracuse passed away Sunday, surrounded by her family. She was born in Syracuse the daughter of William and Laura (Weir) Mullett.
Joan was a short order cook on the north side of Syracuse for many years. She was also a CNA at Hallmark Nursing Home for ten years before retiring.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Preparing large meals for her family and friends brought her great joy. Joan was always a supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Larn; daughters, Brenda Cavanaugh, Dona Messinger, Bobbie Jo Massena; son, John Martin (Julie) Ryals; grandchildren, Stefanie and Michael Cavanaugh, Sarah, Emily and Andrew Messinger, Kayla, Ryan and Olivia Massena, Jeremy, Joelle and Jonathan Ryals, Alexis and Dakoda Davis; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by her daughter, Dawn Marie Davis; brothers Harold and Jack Mullett.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd. Minoa. A memorial service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
