Obituary for Lillian Oot Heffron

Lillian Oot Heffron, 99, a life-time resident of Minoa passed away at home. She was born August 25, 1916 to Leonard and Mae Oot. At age 19 Lillian opened the first beauty salon in Minoa which was located at 137 Main St. When she wasn’t doing hair, she was helping her husband Glenn with his building business, Heffron Builders. Glenn passed away in 1996 after 57 years of marriage.
In her spare time she loved knitting and sewing for her family. She spent countless hours tending her garden, which she cared for herself, until the age of 92 when her eyesight began to fail. She loved spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren when they came to visit.
She is survived by her son, Douglas of Kirkville; her daughter, Patricia Dygert of Minoa; her grandchildren, Debora Dygert O’Connor of Clearwater, FL, James Dygert (Tricia) of Chittenango, Mickey Heffron (Megan) of Mattydale and Ricky Heffron of Minnesota; her great grandchildren, Mollie Blu and Michael O’Connor, George, Gerry and Glenn Dygert, Marissa, Ryken and Chloe Heffron; sisters-in-law, Maurita, Dolores, Marion, Millie, Anna May; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elvira, Esther Shoemaker, Marie, Earl, Leo, Marjorie Flett, Donald, Mary Holl, Robert and Ronald.
Services will be 10:15 am Monday at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel and 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 401 N. Main St., Minoa. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minoa. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lillian’s memory to Central New York Eye & Tissue Bank, 517 E. Washington St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
