Obituary for Marcel A. Chabot

Marcel A.  Chabot
Marcel A. Chabot, 76, of Minoa passed away Wednesday after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Saint-Cyprien, Quebec, Canada, the son of Alfred and Germaine Cameron Chabot. Marcel grew up on a farm in Saint-Cyprien where he developed a love for nature and animals. He later immigrated to the United States and proudly became a citizen in 1994.
Marcel founded Chabot Masonry and worked for 30 years serving customers all over New York State.
Marcel was a member of the Home Builders Association, Knights of Columbus, and a communicant, volunteer and usher for St. Mary’s Church.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with and cheering on his grandchildren in their favorite activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Yolande Racine Chabot; daughter, Lisa Chabot; son. Stephen (Amy) Chabot; sisters, Francoise Chabot, Marthe (Gilles) Abel; brother, Germain Chabot; in-laws, Colette Vachon and Guy Gauvreau; grandchildren, Aidan and Owen Chabot; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Roch Chabot.
Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 2nd, at the R. H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd. Minoa. A funeral Mass will be 9:00 am Monday, October 3rd, at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North Main St. Minoa.
