Edna J. Reed, 74, of 414 Madison Lane, Hamilton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 7, 2016 at Crouse Hospital.
She was born on January 22, 1942 in Massena, NY, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Freeman) Schloer.
On July 26, 1958 Edna married the love of her life Spencer Ashline Sr.
Edna was a long time resident of Munnsville, where she retired as a School Bus driver for Stockbridge Valley Central School after 30 years of service, she also waitressed part-time and was a home health aide.
Edna enjoyed attending church and bible study, watching and playing sports, reading, playing cards, camping, and absolutely adored her two cats, Betsy and Carmie, and Dog, Shelby.
Surviving are: five daughters, Kathy and Bill Landis of Schenectady, Gail and Stephen Wilson Sr. of Munnsville, Virginia Reed of Potsdam, Patricia and Sam Terrier of Hubbardsville, and Laura and Patrick Nolan of Munnsville; one son, Spencer “Joe” Ashline of North Bay; two sisters, Bonnie and Robert Elliot of Katy, TX, Nancy and Bob Wilson of St. Regis Falls; two brothers, Charles and Lucy Schloer of South Colton, and David and Palma Schloer of Waterloo; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Edna was predeceased by her parents; husband; a sister, Gail Ruth Schloer; and a grandson.
At Edna’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. There will be a gathering for family and friends to celebrate her life from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the American Legion Post #54, 6311 East Hill Road, Munnsville. In her memory, contributions can be made to Wanderers Rest Humane Association Inc., 7138 Sutherland Dr., Canastota, NY 13032.
