I didn't know David well, but I always enjoyed talking with him at organ recitals. We'd recall recitals we had both been to years ago, talk about autographs of organists we had collected, check calendars for programs that were coming up. He was an enthusiastic organ music fan, and I'm glad I had the chance to know him. I'll remove his email address from my list of organ recital fans with great reluctance. Once this coronavirus crisis is over, I'll play something in his memory. Blessings to you, his family.

David was my first friend at Syracuse when I arrived in 1958 and we remained friends over sixty years. David was one in a million, with a memory of people and events that I will sorely miss. His contributions to the Fire Department culture and to the Pipe Organ world, will remain with me as long as I remain, and I am sure with all those who shared his passions with him. I will miss you, old friend. You were one in a million. Alan Scouten, Architect Liverpool, NY & Charlottesville, VA
