Obituary for Dorothy Germain

Dorothy Kathan Germain, 90, a long time resident of Syracuse, currently of the Nottingham, Jamesville, passed away on Tuesday at Community Hospital after a short illness surrounded by her family and her husband holding her hand. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Burlington, VT, she was the daughter of Orville and Alvina Kathan. She attended Cathedral High School in Burlington, VT and Syracuse University. Dorothy was the captain of the high school basketball team for 3 years, her nickname was Hawkeye. The caption under her yearbook picture read what would happen if Kathan missed a shot! During WWII, Dorothy was a driver for the ambulance corp. She was a parishioner of All Saints Church, formerly St. Therese, for over 40 years. Dorothy enjoyed golf and bowling with the Has beens. She always enjoyed hosting her family at her summer home at Mexico Point, Lake Ontario which was a children's paradise. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Mildred and brother James.
Survivors: her husband of 66 years, Evroul Samuel Germain; 6 children, Gary, Bruce, Carl, Marie Eschner, Suzanne Eschner and Linda Equinozzi; 20 grandchildren, Garys children, Gregory, Timothy, Nancy and Andrew, Bruces children, Matthew, Christopher, Michael, Luke and Trevor, Carls children, Sarah, Dan, Kaitlyn and Michaela, Maries children, Adam and Emily, Suzannes children, James and Rachel, and Lindas children, Mark, Erin and Kate; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Grady, Isabelle, Alexander, Chloe, Remy, Harris, Alexander, Zachary and Grace.
Funeral Services: 10:00 am Saturday, July 25th at All Saints Church, 112 Lancaster Ave., Syracuse. Burial at St. Marys Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be Friday, July 24th from 3:30 to 7:30 pm at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville, NY 13066.
