Frederic A. Lyman, 84, of Syracuse died June 30, 2019. He worked for many years as a professor of Engineering at Syracuse University. Prior to that he worked at Case Western Reserve University and NASA.

He was married to his Fayetteville High School sweetheart, Marilyn Mawson for 65 years who survives him. He loved dogs, cats, his three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed hiking, camping, kayaking, sailing and traveling.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 10 at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Syracuse, 109 Waring Road, Syracuse. Refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall following the service.

I always very much enjoyed my visits with Uncle Fred--terrific, fun conversations, just as I had with his sister, my mother. I was sorry to hear of his passing and I extend my condolences to Marilyn, Ruth, Martha, and Sarah. --Peter

My dear Marilyn, I met you and Fred on my first day at First UU. You were so kind and supportive of my ministry. I will always treasure the memory of our time together, and am deeply saddened by his death. I was so sad to learn of Fred's passing. He was one of my favorite people, and I will miss him. He was kind and gentle, and I always enjoyed being with him. My sincerest sympathy.
