Obituary

Shirley Duffy was born in Amsterdam, N.Y. on Nov. 22, 1931. She died surrounded by family on Feb. 6, 2020 in Syracuse, N.Y.

Shirley loved to bowl and, in her later years while living in Florida, to golf--everyday! She loved to laugh and to make others laugh with her quick, witty one-liners. She will always be remembered for her unfailing generosity toward her children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 29 years, Edward H. Knack and by her second husband of 32 years, Hugh Duffy. She is also predeceased by her sister, Katheryn Peterson.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Ronald Marsh and her sister, Patricia Romeyn, along with her son, Edward R. Knack (Diane); and her daughter, Jean (Scott). She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren: David Knack, Faith Bullard, John Knack, Stephen Knack, Jessica LaBarge, Scott LaBarge II, and Dillon LaBarge, along with 6 natural greatgrandchildren: Mark, Kathryn, Simeon, Nora, Lincoln, and Ada; and 5 “adopted” greatgrandchildren: Deng, Ayen, Kuei, Yar, and Amuor. Agoot Jok lovingly and tirelessly cared for Shirley during the last 5 years of her life. The family gives her and everyone else who cared for Shirley their greatest and warmest gratitude.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 from 4-6 pm at Eaton Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville, N.Y. The service will follow the calling hours at 6 pm at the funeral home.
