Condolence: Ulla,

We hope you have fully recovered after a difficult year and our hearts and thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Joost has been a true mentor and good friend. He advised me 25 years ago: always apply a patent when you have a good idea and using Willis Carrier as an example. He is also the first who affirmed my Shock Tube approach since he was early on trained as a nuclear scientist and is very knowledgeable in that area. He will be greatly missed and will always remain high in our hearts.

Condolence: Dear Ulla,
Through Nanda Weeks I received the sad news of Joost's passing. Although it's 25+years ago that we last met in Syracuse, I fondly remember Joost, you and your (little) boys, and how both your sons easily switched between 3 languages. Maggy and Nanda also told me of the beautiful 70th birthday celebration for Joost, surrounded by your close friends and of course, his family.
Even though we have not kept in touch, I still want to send you my sincere condolences, hoping that the many memories of love, light and joy will sustain you during the difficult times ahead.
In friendship, Quinney.

Condolence: Dear Ulla,
We are shocked of the passing of our nephew Joost. We appreciated his short visits to us, some years ago, when he stayed for a moment in the Netherlands. Also the cards we got every year around Christmas were a sign of his affection to his family. Joost was a warm personality and a family man. His passing is a great lost to all of you. We wish you and the children and grandchildren a lot of strength and the support of God in this difficult time.
Warm regards by Margot & Jaap Hoogendoorn

Condolence: Dear Ulla and Family, It was with great sadness we learned over Joost’s illness and passing. He was such a fantastic person and I have so many good memories of him and all the fun projects and travels we carried out during the time we worked together. Being around Joost has been a great experience for me and I am forever grateful for all the good he added to my life. I will always think about Joost when I hear someone cite Karfeldts ”Han talar med bönder på bönders sätt men med lärde men på latin”. I never met a person that impersonates that poem in such a beautiful way. Thank you so much for sharing him with us and we hope that the good memories can give you comfort in this difficult time.

Condolence: Dear Ulla and family, I am so shocked and heartbroken to learn of Joost's passing. In fact I was looking for him tonight at the reception of the City University's Conference on Compressors and heard the news from Prof. Smith. Obviously everyone who knew him was so sadden by this sudden loss and help. Joost has been my mentor and a close friend since 1991 back at Syracuse. I have learned so much from him since then and has enjoyed so many time-together with him alone, with you and your family. May Joost rest in peace and the past good memories will live forever and you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: dear Ulla,

It was with great sadness that I received the message of the decease of our good friend Joost. I have known him for a long time, even before we both entered the ORC technology. Since then, we had regular encounters, and they were always very pleasant. I valued him for his open mind, sharp vision and deep knowledge, but above all as a person. My wife Marjolijn and I have precious memories of the diner we had together in Delft after the first ORC conference. He even visited us in our home in Goor, where you had lived in a similar house way before us. At that time, he gave our daughter the advice to go for a PhD, which she did and completed. As I am taking over some tasks from Piero in ASME and the conference, we often referred to things Joost contributed. We would liked to have him around much longer. But this is especially valid for you and your family of course.
We wish you all that many good memories will give you the strength to bear this loss.
We offer you our deepest condolences.

Condolence: Dear Ulla and Family, I am very sad on hearing of Joost passing. The friendship with Joost began on a train to Amsterdam airport, it was a slow trip and we had time to chat about ORC systems and many other things. We met many times since then, and he came to visit our company in Italy, too.
I have always been impressed by his deep technical knowledge, his keen vision, his way of smoothing problems, and above all his frank and friendly approach.
I looked forward to meet him again in Brussels for the ASME-ORC 2015: I am very sad that I will not enjoy his smile.
