It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce that our brother, Rusty, of East Syracuse, NY passed away on September 29, 2020. He was 62 years old and was predeceased by his parents Charles “Russ” and Jennifer Brownell.

He is survived by his two sisters, Karen (Tom) Kavanaugh and Jennifer Brownell; brother, Stephen (Jacklyn) Brownell; three nieces, Alexandra Kavanaugh, Rebecca Kavanaugh and Amanda Brownell; and three nephews, Matthew Brownell, Andrew Brownell and Stephen Brownell. Rusty also leaves behind his very dear childhood friend Mark Westfall.

Rusty graduated from East Syracuse Minoa High School and went on to become a truck driver for G&C Trucking Company.  He was full of life and had a heart of gold. He loved many sports including snowmobiling and watching SU football and basketball, but his greatest passion was NASCAR. Rusty will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Rusty, you touched a lot peoples lives and I'm glad everyone remembers the laughs you've shared. A good hearted soul who will be dearly missed. You helped the kids and I so much and we are forever grateful. I wish life had slowed down for you Brownie, but you are happy with mom and dad now. The race has come to a halt. Rest In Peace now. Love Brenda and kids

My deep condolences to the Brownell and extended family. Rusty was a true and dear friend of mine for many years. It was us 2 that began the annual trips to Watkins Glen for several days a year, to be joined by others as years passed. Anytime something was needed, anywhere, Rusty came thru. He never forgot a b'day and to sing. The hours we laughed our butt off are too numerous. There are many things that will leave me sad as I experience them without him, and to know I will never see him again is painfully difficult. I realize that's the last thing he would want, so I'll do my best to just remember what a joy he brought into my life and many, many of my best memories in life would not have occurred if not for 'MY PAL, RUSTY'. Love you brother. Marc Stebbins
