Norma Goodwin Griswold, 99, of Fayetteville, passed away July 16, 2019, one month shy of her 100th birthday. After a day surrounded by loving family and friends, Norma slipped away peacefully. She was born on August 26, 1919 in Jersey City, NJ to Louise and Persons Goodwin. On February 9, 1946 she married G. Alan Griswold. They shared many wonderful years together with their three daughters, including many moves. Wherever they made home, finding a church family was a priority. Norma was a kind, loving mentor, teacher and great friend. In addition, she had many talents: knitting, sewing, crocheting and baking, always with someone in mind.

Norma was predeceased by her husband; daughter, Barbara; her parents; two sisters; and sons-in-law, Richard Minard and John Schucker.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia Schucker (Rick Stein), Susan Minard; grandchildren, Carrie (Ben) Pattison, Kelly (James) Kristjansen, Laurie (Martin) Reinhold, Jeffrey (Daniela Labriola) Minard; great-grandchildren, Ava Pattison, Jack, Dylan, and Alexander Reinhold; nieces and nephews.

Norma’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Eastern Hills Bible Church, 8277 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius. Burial will be private.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Griswold, but I know her daughter Sue and grandchildren Kelly and Jeff, so I know she was a great mother, teacher and a loving person......her legacy will live on in these good hearts 💜💟

Please accept my most sincere sympathy for the death of your loved one. We can find comfort in the word of God because it assures us that "there is going to be a resurrection" (Acts 24:15).  God promises to give life back to millions of people who have died, and he desires to do so very soon.

We know this from what a servant of God from the past, Job, asked God: “If a man dies, can he live again?  I will wait all the days of my compulsory service (death) until my relief comes.   You (Jehovah) will call, and I (Job) will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands." (Job 14:14, 15) God is longing to give life back to those who have died.

Perhaps these words do not calm your pain but we are certain that God will resurrect all those who demonstrate faith in the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ. Reflecting on the divine promises found in the Bible will give you the hope and strength to keep going until all of God’s promises are fulfilled.  May these words bring you and your family much comfort from Jehovah God, the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4).
